Online retailing giant Amazon will launch its end-of-year sale at 9am on December 25, in the hope it will benefit from tablet and ebook reader users.
The retailer hopes to maximise digital revenue by selling content on Christmas Day.
Amazon‘s festive sale, running until January 1, will include cut-price offers on digital products and ‘lightening deals’.
The company will compete with traditional bricks-and-mortar stores by matching them on price over the lucrative Christmas period.
The Christmas sale offers include up to 80 per cent off apps and 67 per cent off LOVEFilm subscriptions.
“Christmas Day is our biggest day of the year for MP3 and Kindle Book download as many people are buying content for their new devices,” said Xavier Garambois, vice president of EU retail at Amazon.
